The best two years

Two years ago today, a young man who had just returned from a mission in the land of Scots, stood on the steps of the Museum of Art History anxiously waiting for a girl. It was an open house at the museum and it's affiliates and he had somehow convinced the girl he was the right one to join her on the free entry tour.
The girl also stood on the steps, wondering if she would even recognize the young lad. After a few long minutes and awkward, intense stares at some innocent white ~5'7" males, the girl sighed. And then.... there he was. Like he hadn't left at all. There was a short, but sincere hug and then the tour of at least three museums began. You will forgive me if I can't tell you a thing they saw, but I could tell you about everything they talked about. Laughing and enjoying each other's company.

Two years later... a missionary in sacrament meeting talks about how every two years of your life should be better than the last. The boy gets up and says: the last two years HAVE been the best of my life.

Where was your first date??

The Huber Highlights 2010

We started out the year 2010 as newly engaged. Marie made Egbert promise NOT  to propose on New Yeas Eve, so he surprised her (and himself) a few days before her birthday. But that dear reader is another story.

Nearly six months of wedding preparations later we celebrated our big day(s) with lots of family and friends.  Thank you again to all that: laughed, cried, sang,  danced, folded cranes, printed invitations, took pictures, gave gifts and drove us (and our stuff)  around two countries. Marie still can’t listen to this song without tearing up, just a little.

After our honeymoon in an enchanted city in a beautiful country, it was back to “real life”.  We were lucky enough to be able to rent Tante Karin’s apartment in the heart of Vienna (Danke!).  So Kath and Tim, you’ve actually been to our place before! We live and both work in the same district (Vienna has 23 districts, we are in the 9th) and enjoy our neighborhood and a tram line that takes us straight to church. Egbert started school studying Banking and Finance, loving statistics (Marie just can’t see why) and big numbers. Marie is in her last year of Molecular Biotechnology (yeah, genetics and stuff) and can’t wait to be done. She works here as a technical administrative assistant and is doing a fulltime internship there for school. Egbert works here on Saturdays, where HE can’t wait to be done.
He currently serves in the bishopric and is in charge of the YSA and youth.
Marie was called into the Relief Society presidency and is still adjusting to the switch from teaching Kindergarten. (Any hints, advice, tips? Lisa??! Very much appreciated.)

We are grateful to have the opportunity to work, study and live in this great city. When ever you want to stop by, our apartment has been tested and found to able to fit five people (including us).

Teaser

While I was working today I realized that there are no wedding pictures on our blog as of right now(my now (so your past?!- by the time you (the dear blog-reader) will read this (so right now!) there will be at least one such  picture on this blog (well turns out there are two!)) ) ! And I thought to myself what a wonderful world!

Me so happy! I'm not the only one starring at the sun

Still sort of smiling
This post will just serve as a teaser as I can't be bothered right now to upload a whole bunch of pictures and come up with witty comments for them.

(Marie is complaining about me posting too much saying you the reader can't keep up- well I think you can! Don't stop believing in yourself- it's not always rainbows and butterflies!)

Not quite New Years Day

These are the Day-before-New-Years-Day adventures of Marie and Egbert Huber. Continue if you dare!

Our very own (sort of) Christmas story. Emily, Marie and I where taking the train
back to Vienna but there was no room for us in the Inn (second class) so they put us in the stable (first class - well polish first class which would normally be considered second class)- there even was a woman with a child seated across from us^^

Our TV resting on his very own TV-stand (actually it's an upside down shelf... but psssst!- keep it secret- keep it safe!!)

Pumpkin Gnocchi with pumpkin sauce (I had to choose between eating that or watching Harry Potter... It was like choosing between joy or suffering)

Lovely Marie! Her food didn't look quite as good as mine so I just took a picture of her w/out the food.
Marie and her family drinking some tea (can you tell that Martin is drinking "Gute Laune"- Tee?!) and eating Apfelstrudel.

Either shortly after or before New Years Day

Well... that's it for now!
Please call again!! ;-)
